After Your Visit

Going Home
Arrange for someone to drive you home. Follow your doctor's advice regarding how soon you can return to normal activities following your surgery.

A home health nurse may come to your home after you are discharged. You also may be instructed to make some changes in your lifestyle such as modifying your diet to reduce consumption of fat and cholesterol, and exercising daily.

Your cardiac surgeon will see you after surgery, usually within two weeks.

Rehabilitation and Fitness
Your doctor may recommend a cardiopulmonary rehabilitation program. We provide a professional team of registered nurses, respiratory therapists, exercise physiologists and health educators. Working together with you and your doctor, they will design an individualized program to meet your specific rehabilitation goals.

Workout sessions generally are scheduled two to three times a week in the Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation Center, based upon your individual needs and current fitness level. You will be monitored and medically supervised by professional staff with specific training in cardiopulmonary rehabilitation and exercise physiology
